Was Erich Fried the most important German-language poet of the post-war period? He was certainly the most popular. And at the same time a dreaded vocal political activist. In exile in London he led a chaotic family life far from the German language.

The director of the film, Fried’s son Klaus, traces the poet’s faces. He looks for companions, rummages in archives, sorts personal material and tries to rediscover the facets of his father’s personality.
